At the corner of Front and Center stands an American Icon. Restored and placed next to the tracks, a gentle and subtle reminder to days gone by. Here in Eyota, it stands as a reminder of a beacon of hope!
Recall that the caboose was the last car of the train, where the conductor and brakemen rode. The brakeman was responsible for making sure the brakes worked properly, for applying the brakes on each car, making sure the couplings were secure, and watching for problems throughout the train, such as a load shifting, or track problems. But, for those bygone years, the caboose on a train was a symbol of joy, excitement and fun! Here it comes! There it goes! Hope!
Our story at Front and Center is to give people that same concept of hope. We have big plans for the future of our community, one car, one train and one caboose at a time. Our timeline is still being established, and while original thoughts and concepts (such as a new building) are off the table – the mission of Front and Center, Inc., a dream realized at the Caboose, will continue to bear fruit within our community!
With that, we are excited to share that the Eyota Food Pantry, begun in 2017 by a group of entrepreneurial Girl Scouts within the community, will expand services and provide continued hope to those facing food insecurity.
We are grateful to announce our NEW LOCATION at the Corner of Front and Center - on Main Street kiddie corner from the Caboose! We are full circle and couldn't be more happy! This is all because of a dream and a vision and YOU!
The good is here … the better is coming and the best is on the way! I see it! I see it! The Caboose!
Welcome to Front and Center!
In the News!
We moved on Wednesday, June 9th to our NEW LOCATION at the Corner of Front and Center on Main Street.
Thank you, local media, for covering this historic event. Thank you, to all those who helped with the move - especially Mr. Anderson and the Dover-Eyota Marching Eagles Band! What a blessing to have the entire community support this venture!
